Vintage Motorcycle Jackets Convey More Style

You might like the stylish leather jacket, or be interested in the textile jacket, but perhaps neither quite strikes your fancy or sense of style.  A vintage motorcycle jacket may be just the thing you are looking for.  Also known as retrospect or antique jackets, vintage jackets are becoming ever more popular with bikers.  They have lasted for decades and will probably last for much longer, even with constant wear.  Their strong material will keep them durable and comfortable.

They might be more expensive, but vintage motorcycle jackets are quite a hit right now.  They have evolved since they first showed up in the 1920s.  They can even be worn off the motorcycle: with a button down shirt and tie, or to a party.  They have a touch of iconic style which lends just the right feel.  The owner can handpick his own jacket for looks or even for historical significance.

These vintage jackets have lasted for decades, and are quite the classy leather jackets.  The leather has been well cared for over the years; specifically, it has been kept in a cool, dry place, out of direct sunlight.  It has been kept well oiled, and the lining and stitching in the jacket should be in good condition.  A repaired jacket can still be a good investment.

The leather in vintage jackets is usually cowhide, steer hide or horsehide.  When these were brand new, they were usually very thick and rather stiff.  The beauty of a vintage jacket is that it has already been worn over the years, and the thick leather has softened.  Both by weathering and normal wear, the leather now shapes to the contour of the body easily, and is both comfortable and very stylish.  If you want to make a statement with your motorcycling jacket, look into purchasing a vintage motorcycle jacket.
