A motorcycle helmet audio device of any sort is a great asset for a motorcycle ride, especially a long distance trip.  The type of helmet which the rider wears will make a great difference in whether the headphones will fit comfortably in his ears or not.  The device itself, as well as its location in the helmet, has the greatest effect on the volume of the headphone speakers.

Quality motorcycle rain gear will be made from fabrics made of advanced waterproof technology.  600 Denier nylon is a modern textile that is great for rain gear, and keeps you from catching a cold in the rain.  Many of the good rain jackets and suits will have pockets with fully enclosed flaps and Velcro to keep them tightly shut.  There should also be an inner pocket for a wallet or cell phone to remain perfectly dry and on your person.

You should probably also purchase a waterproof backpack that can hold your rain gear.  It should be comfortable enough to carry around all the time, in case of a surprise rain storm.  It should also have reflective surfaces to make you visible to other drives in the rain.  These are some of the basic things you will want to think about when purchasing rain gear.

The intercom system is not vital to a good trip with other riders, but it is incredibly useful.  You can use if either for group travel, or for instructing beginners.  It is easily installed on or into your motorcycle helmet, and is very lightweight.

There are many full-face helmets that come with an intercom system already installed, even down to the earphones, microphones, and handle bar switch.  They are simple and safe to use, and quite convenient.  The handlebar switch allows you to talk to others easily and quickly.  They function much like a walky-talky, with 8 clear channels on UHF frequency that reach over 2 miles.

Looking at the various styles, the first is the acoustic intercom style, which uses no electronics or amplification.  This style is only for rider-to-passenger communication.  A wired motorcycle intercom system has wires into a central control boxes.  This systerm has no external interference, and enables a handheld Citizens Band radio with voice activition to be plugged in.  Finally, a wireless system can by any of the four types of radio technology: frequency modulation (FM), family radio service (FRS), general mobile radio service (GMRS), and Bluetooth, which will only range from 800 to 1600 feet, while the others travel for miles.  Think about how you want to use your intercom system to help you decide which intercom to purchase.

Motorcycle helmets for women are, while different, still similar to those of men, at least in terms of safety and classification.  Their main purpose is to protect the face, just as a man’s motorcycle helmet.  The standards are also regulated by D.O.T. or Snell standards just as men’s helmets are regulated and tested.

However, there are noticeable distinguishing features between men’s and women’s helmets.  Women’s helmets tend to offer a greater fashion statement than men’s helmets, which often have more simple styles.  Colors and styles vary depending on gender – bright pink and polished purple are the favorite colors for women’s headgear, and only for women’s helmets.  They come in smaller sizes and in distinctly feminine shapes.  However, the size classifications between the two kinds of helmets are actually the same.

Getting a little more flare on your helmet is as simple as adding a few accessories.  The early motorcycle helmet was a boring, basic helmet – accessories have come a long way from that first helmet.  The accessories are great extra features which will help make the helmet pleasurable to look at, comfortable to wear, and, most importantly, safe.

Looking for accessories might seem like a lot of work, but it does not have to be a chore.  There are a number of different items out there, and they come in a variety of styles.  In the items made for safety, there are such things as quick release buckles and helmet shields.  There is also a helmet lock that can secure your helmet to your handlebars or engine guards.  In style accessories, there are Mohawks and spike strips which will adhere directly to your helmet and stay there firmly as you speed down the road.

There is a good number of special motorcycle helmet accessories to add protection to your helmet.  Such accessories include the visor and the face shield – these block the sun, wind, and road detritus which may be kicked up by a car in front of you.  This keeps your face and eyes safe as you are riding your motorcycle, while still giving you good visibility.  These are only a few of the options which you can find to accessorize your helmet.

The top two reasons to get a custom motorcycle helmet are the appearance and the styling.  These helmets are only for cyclist with an extraordinary passion for the activity, who needs to have a unique type of helmet, at least in terms of design and shape.  The two most common methods of customization are airbrushing and painting.  Usually solid color helmets – either in black or white – are used as the basic beginning for a helmet customized to the user’s specifications.  No matter how amazing the artistry may be on the helmet, a helmet which is not safe is a useless helmet.
