Be Prepared for the Weather with Motorcycle Rain Gear

You are sure to have to ride your motorcycle on some rainy day, and you will want to be prepared, not only because it is unpleasant to arrive at your destination soaking wet, but also so that you will be safe on the road in a storm.  Having proper rain gear for your motorcycling is key to staying safe.  There are a number of different accessories and types of rain gear which you will want to shop for.  Make sure that you get good quality gear, even if it is a little more expensive – it will be worth it in the long run.

The proper gear will have the best chance of keeping you safe in a downpour.  It will come in conspicuous colors, it will be comfortable, and it will be easy to put on.  Waterproof boots and gloves are the first things to buy – they will keep your feet and hands dry and give them traction in the rain.  Gauntlets on your cuffs will keep the gloves dry for a long time.  A full face motorcycle helmet will keep the sharp rain drops off of your face and head.  Anti-fog motorcycle goggles are another option to keep the rain out of your eyes.

Quality motorcycle rain gear will be made from fabrics made of advanced waterproof technology.  600 Denier nylon is a modern textile that is great for rain gear, and keeps you from catching a cold in the rain.  Many of the good rain jackets and suits will have pockets with fully enclosed flaps and Velcro to keep them tightly shut.  There should also be an inner pocket for a wallet or cell phone to remain perfectly dry and on your person.

You should probably also purchase a waterproof backpack that can hold your rain gear.  It should be comfortable enough to carry around all the time, in case of a surprise rain storm.  It should also have reflective surfaces to make you visible to other drives in the rain.  These are some of the basic things you will want to think about when purchasing rain gear.
